Liza Leusenko
Competitive and Limited Competitive Stream Coach
Liza is one of the club’s oldest members. She has been an athlete with PWAS since 2009. Born in Ukraine, she started her synchronized swimming career there at the age of 6 and swam there for about seven years before moving to Canada at the age of 13.
Here, she joined PWAS and continued swimming for another five years. Over these years, Liza was BC’s top athlete, winning numerous provincial and placing high at all national competitions. After graduating from high school, she was granted a scholarship at Lindenwood University in Missouri, where she studied sciences and competed in artistic swimming at the collegiate level.
Officially, Liza’s career as an athlete ended in 2015. She stayed in the US for another year before returning back to Canada, where she joined PWAS again, but this time as a coach.
Since then, she has coached many different groups across all age categories, including AcquaGo, LCOMP, 11-12, and 13-15 provincial stream teams and junior athletes in the national stream. Now, along with coaching, she is finishing up her psychology courses at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and is expected to receive her bachelors in the spring of 2025.
